Lake Como is really a dream destination, perfect for the whole family. Snow capped mountains reflected in the clear blue of the lake, the historical buildings and beautiful fishing villages make this tourist destination fabulous.

Although it might not seem like the most child-friendly destination, there are many activities to keep children entertained: if your children are good swimmers, you need to know the water-themed activities abound (water-skiing, kayaking, splash in the water, ecc). It’s really fun to take a boat trip across the lake: renting a boat you will have the opportunity to visit many villas, picturesque villages that rise on lake’s banks as Bellaggio, Tremezzo, Cernobbio, Varenna, Moltrasioand beaches.

Don’t miss the wonderful Villa Carlotta: a good place for the kids to explore the gardens and let off steam. Villa Carlotta is an ancient villa full of important sculptures and beautiful Italian gardens with azaleas, orchids and tropical plants: here kids can have fun walking through the beautiful gardens, exploring the different botanical species, the various waterways, the tropical plame forest, the bamboo forest and can pause to observe the ponds that house frogs, tadpoles and many turtles.

Another interesting activity to do is to take the funicular up to Brunate called the “balcony of the Alps”: the view is amazing.  If you prefer to do some trekking with your family, you can opt for the “Passeggiata delle Baite”: in about two and a half hours it takes you from the square of the Brunate funicular to Monte Bolettone.
